New Zealand Cricket team arrives in Pakistan for Test and ODIs

New Zealand's cricket team returned to Pakistan on Thursday for two Tests and three one-day international matches, a year after curtailing their tour due to security threats.

The Kiwis' arrival comes just days after England whitewashed Pakistan at home in a three-match Test series that saw the host's cricket board chief sacked.

New Zealand caused deep frustration in Pakistan last September when they announced they would be returning home after not showing up at the Rawalpindi stadium.

They rescheduled their visit after a successful trip to Australia in March, followed by two trips to England.

His current 15-man New Zealand squad, led by veteran fast bowler Tim Southey, will start the tour with the first Test in Karachi on Monday. The second test will take place in Multan on January 3rd, followed by a one-day international match in Karachi on January 10th, 12th, and 14th.

Pakistan on Wednesday announced his 16-man squad for his Test series and recalled fast bowler Hasan Ali.

Spearhead's Shaheen Shah Afridi is out with a knee injury.

A Test series against New Zealand will give Pakistan a chance to improve their performance after suffering a humiliating defeat to England.

New Zealand canceled the tour in 2002 after a bomb exploded outside a hotel in Karachi, killing 14 of its people, including French naval personnel. They returned in 2003 but avoided huge port cities.

Pakistan subsequently became an off-limits destination for international cricket when Sri Lanka's team bus was attacked in 2009, forcing Pakistan to play its home matches mainly at neutral venues in the United Arab Emirates. rice field.

However, international cricket has been slowly returning since 2015, after much-improved safety, and this year is a big home season with visitors from Australia, England, and New Zealand.
