Pakistan Crushes Nepal by 238 Runs in Asia Cup Opener

Pakistan got their Asia Cup campaign off to a winning start, crushing Nepal by 238 runs in the opening match of the tournament in Multan on Wednesday.

Babar Azam scored a brilliant 151 while Iftikhar Ahmed smashed his maiden ODI century as Pakistan posted a challenging 342 for 6 in their 50 overs.

Nepal were bowled out for just 104 in 23.4 overs, with Shadab Khan taking four wickets and Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf claiming two each.

It was a dominant performance from Pakistan, who showed their class against a Nepal side that were no match for them.

Babar Azam in Fine Form

Babar Azam was the star of the show for Pakistan, scoring his 11th ODI century. He batted beautifully throughout his innings, hitting 17 fours and two sixes.

Iftikhar Ahmed also made a valuable contribution, scoring 109 not out off 71 balls. He put on a 214-run partnership with Babar for the fifth wicket, which was the highest partnership of the match.

Nepal's Batting Collapses

Nepal's batting was a major disappointment. They were never in the hunt after being put in to bat, and they lost wickets at regular intervals.

Only Aarif Sheikh (26) and Sompal Kami (28) made any significant contributions, as the rest of the batsmen failed to get going.

Shadab Khan Stars with the Ball

Shadab Khan was the pick of the bowlers for Pakistan, taking four wickets for 27 runs. He was well supported by Shaheen Shah Afridi and Haris Rauf, who both took two wickets each.

The win was a confidence-booster for Pakistan, who will be looking to build on it in their next match against India on Saturday.
